about

"Astray (Fallen Angel)" is track #7 from our album "The Scapegoat's Agony". The album title is an allusion to the play "Waiting for Godot" by Irish playwright and novelist Samuel Beckett and points towards the - for the most part - painful and excruciating emotional odyssey of the unnamed antihero.

Synopsis for "Astray (Fallen Angel)":
Still in thrall to his all-encompassing insanity, the unnamed antihero gives in to his more megalomaniacal impulses as he assumes the treacherous persona of a Christ-like would-be saviour.

lyrics

I love it to go through walls
I'm able to sleep in fire
While roaming about on water
'Cause I am the new Messiah

Enlightenment for you, my dear friend
Eternal peace, in heaven, on earth
But you must believe in God and in me
And property kills your glorious rebirth

Here he comes with tongues of fire
Praise the Lord - a new Messiah
There he goes to ease your pain
To break your will, to numb your brain

When evil occurs, I'm there to redeem
No matter how bad or vile it may seem
Of course, this treatment is not for free
But aren't we one big family?

Here he comes with tongues of fire
Praise the Lord - a new Messiah
There he goes to ease your pain
To break your will, to numb your brain

Your souls could be saved if only you trust
Abstain from those moments of sexual lust
Abandon these places resembling bee-hives
Forsake all your vices, your money, your lives
Your lives
Your lives
Your lives

Thou shalt not steal
Thou shalt not lie
Thou shalt not kill
Thou shalt not die
Thou shalt not swear
Thou shalt not beat
Thou shalt not drink
Thou shalt not eat

Here he comes with tongues of fire
Praise the Lord - a new Messiah
There he goes to ease your pain
To break your will, to numb your brain

Here he comes with tongues of fire
Praise the Lord - a new Messiah
There he goes to ease your pain
To break your will, to numb your brain

about

Coma Beach Würzburg, Germany

Shock, chaos, pain, rage and isolation: These are the thematic cornerstones of COMA BEACH’s music. The very title of their debut album, "The Scapegoat's Agony", an ominous-sounding allusion to Samuel Beckett's literary works, already bears the haunting promise of a highly unusual experience. Lurking behind it all, there is a clear-eyed artistic vision rather than a generic punk rock album… ... more
